Confronting Bodies: council of Ephesus

Description of Artwork: This is an historical novel written by an anonymous Christian which glorifies the life of Saint Paul.

The Incident: A council of bishops gathered in Ephesus (or maybe Smyrna) and decided the book did not conform to the public image of Saint Paul that the church wanted to convey.

Results of Incident: The book continued to circulate and was referenced to by some authors of the time, but this incident started the idea of book banning in the church.
