Date of Action: July 2004

Region: North America

Location: Manhattan, New York

Subject: Political/Economic/Social Opinion

Description of Artwork: The billboard featured a bomb and the words "Democracy is Best Taught by Example, Not by War," all colored in red, white and blue. The billboard was to be in place in Times Square while the Republican National Convention was being held in New York.

The Incident: Clear Channel, the company which owned the billboard, refused to show it, which led to breach in contract proceedings.

Results of Incident: Ultimately, a compromise was reached.
