The Incident: 1579 England-London: The copies of the book were burned in the kitchen stove of Stationer's Hall.
Results of Incident: 1579 England-London: The author was condemned to have his right hand cut off by means of a cleaver driven through the wrist by a mallet. Stubbs thereupon raised his hat with his left hand and cried, "God save the Queen" before fainting followed by 18 months in prison.
