Description of Artwork: Journalistic coverage, including photographs and video footage, of a car accident in Tiananmnen Square, which involved a car driving into pedestrians and then catching on fire. The accident resulted in the death of five people.
The Incident: Chinese police arrested two Agence France-Presse reporters who attempted to cover the event. They were later released, but the photographs and video footage had been deleted from their equipment. Other reporters from different news sources had also been briefly arrested. Photographs of the event were removed from blogs, and Internet speeds were slowed down to prevent the spread of any images or information. Police physically blocked access to the square as well.
