The Incident: The event organizer asked Louis Hill, the gallery owner, to remove the paintings that she considered inappropriate for a fundraising event to benefit foster children with HIV. Hill refused to remove the paintings but allowed Hollis to cover them with plastic sheets.

Results of Incident: All of Sherer's paintings were temporarily covered for the duration of the fundraiser, although several large photographs of female nudes were allowed to remain uncovered in an adjoining gallery.
