Description of Artwork: The art show consisted of a mix of paintings, drawings, and sculptures produced by 16 Palmer High students. The show contained some controversial elements; including depictions of nudity, homosexual relationships, school violence, gender/transgender identity and cultural taboos.
The Incident: In response to a complaint made by a school visitor, the school placed a red paper barrier around the displayed artwork before eventually dismantling the show.
Results of Incident: The school district ultimately decided to move the show to the school library. The principal, Reese Everett, explained that this was intended to preserve the show while preventing visitors from being forced to view it.
