Subject: Political/Economic/Social Opinion

Description of Artwork: The installation, created by Italian artist, Bertrand Ennio, was comprised of video clips showing United Airlines Flight 175 colliding with the south tower of the World Trade Center. The images were shown on a continuous loop on which spectators could alter the speed.

The Incident: Shortly after the exhibit was installed, show officials were contacted by members of the Pier 88 staff who believed the images in the work were upsetting and disturbing, especially considering the fact that the space was previously used as a staging are for attack-related operations. People found the exhibit a constant reminder of painful experiences and too upsetting for the space in which it existed.

Results of Incident: Hours before the last night's opening night gala, the exhibit was removed. The show's organizers said that they were not questioning the merit of the piece and were not looking to censor the work, rather they were trying to find a different, more appropriate venue to showcase the work.
