Description of Artwork: The Yes Men created a phony website which was designed to mimic the DOW Chemical Corporation's own website. The content of this website was aimed to criticize DOW's reaction to the 1984 lethal gas leak in Bhopal, India.
The Incident: The website was hosted by primary service provider Thing.net, which derived its internet access from NTT/Verio. After receiving legal threats from DOW, NTT/Verio shut down Thing.net, which caused hundreds of other websites to lose internet access as well.
Results of Incident: The Yes Men's internet access was not restored.

Description of Artwork: The Yes Men created a phony website which was designed to mimic ExxonMobil's own website. The content of this website was aimed to criticize ExxonMobil's influence on environmental policies in various countries.
The Incident: The website was hosted by service provider Broadview Networks. After receiving complaints from an anonymous source, Broadview Networks shut down the spoof website, Vivoleum.com, as well as the Yes Men's email service until all mentions of ExxonMobil were removed from it.
Results of Incident: Vivoleum.com remains a filtered website.
