Description of Artwork: Sales of Lady Gaga's most recent album, "Born This Way," were banned in Lebanon.

The Incident: Sales of Lady Gaga's most recent album, "Born This Way," were banned in Lebanon because it is considered offensive to Christianity. Lebanon's General Secretary Department accused the album of bad taste and restricted its sale. Religion is often a factor in censorship incidents in Lebanon, but it is likely the underlying gay-pride subtext of the album encouraged the ban. Just prior to this incident, Malaysia also banned sales of "Born This Way" because it promoted homosexuality.
