Description of Artwork: “Mother and Daughter II” (2014), is a composite of four images showing the artist, Diane Ducruet, cuddling with her daughter. Both of them are nude.

The Incident: Seven people sent letters of complaint addressed the curator Françoise Paviot, Diane Ducruet and Louis Pinte. The letters claim that the pictures show incest, heresy and pedophilia and offend victims of incest. The exhibition was part of the Mois de la Photo photography event in Paris.

Results of Incident: Catherine Houard, the owner of the gallery, contacted the Mois de la Photo general curator and Maison Européenne de la Photographie director Jean-Luc Monterosso, who advised her to remove Ducruet's work. After she removed it, because she didn't want to run the risk of vandalism, Monterosso denied any involvement with the decision.
