Moveon.jpg

Artist: MoveOn.org

Year: 2004

Date of Action: February 2004

Region: North America

Location: N/A

Subject: Political/Economic/Social Opinion

Medium: Commercial Advertising

Confronting Bodies: CBS

Description of Artwork: The advertisement featured children working in blue collar jobs, and ended with the question "Guess who's going to pay off President Bush's 1 trillion dollar deficit?"

The Incident: MoveOn.org had submitted the advertisement to air during the Super Bowl, but CBS rejected the ad, saying that the network, as a policy, does not run advertisements on "controversial issues of public importance." The same excuse was given to PETA, whose ad was also rejected.

CBS did, however, decide to run an anti-abortion advertisement in 2010.

Results of Incident: The ad was never aired.
