Dates of Action: December 2004

Location: Manatee County, Florida

Description of Artwork: Pastel drawings of nude figures

The Incident: White's pastels were "accidentally" put on display near the children's section of a public library. Parents complained, and county commissioners removed all library displays while formulating a new policy for showing art in the library.

Results of Incident: All displays in public libraries in the county were emptied and left bare until clear-cut rules can be drafted for what may be displayed. Seven months after the incident, library display cases remain empty.
